When you see
(underlined words)
Do you believe prayer makes a difference?
We hear it said that a person’s life will suffer if he doesn’t pray, but I question that. What will suffer is the life of the [Holy Spirit] in him, which is nourished not by food, but by prayer. When a person is born again from above, the life of the [Spirit] is born in him, and he can either starve or nourish that life. Prayer is the way that the life of God in us is nourished. —My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers (p. 262, August 28)
Holy Spirit Impact
Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry. —Luke 4:1-2 (NLT)
Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region. He taught regularly in their synagogues and was praised by everyone. —Luke 4:14-15 (NLT)
Dunamis
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. —Acts 1:8 (NLT)
Go Beyond the Sermon…
All summer, there will be daily devotions to help you take the sermon into your day-to-day life. Keep up through the church app, website, or on our social pages. We also have a Zoom conversation every Sunday at 4:00 pm.
Questions to Ponder:
What does it mean to pray through the Holy Spirit’s power?
How can I look toward God’s future?
What is blocking me from going deeper in prayer?
What is one goal I have for my prayer life over the next 28 days?
