The Resurrections - worksheet 2

1 Corinthians 15:6-7 (NIV) says 6After that, he

to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen . 7Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.

This statement of the appearances of Jesus after His resurrection, reported by the apostle Paul, is generally given as proof of the bodily resurrection from the dead.
More than five hundred believers saw the resurrected Jesus as eye witnesses. Then it says “most of them still living”. It means at the time of writing of the epistle (56 AD). And that some have fallen asleep. That means “died in Christ”.

Q1 In this passage, many people are mentioned by name, who testified that they have seen Jesus after He rose from the dead. There is a number of 500 eye witnesses. The two men walking to the town of Emmaus (Luke 24:13-31) are not mentioned by Paul. Take into account that many people were illiterate, and not able the write on scrolls for historical verification and as evidence of the bodily resurrection of Jesus. Write down in the blue box below, whether you think these reports are credible. Take into account that both Luke and Paul were no eye witnesses of Jesus during His time of ministry on earth. Their apostolic ministries took place after Jesus’ ascension (Acts 1:1-9). How were Luke and Paul informed (Acts 1:1 and Acts 9:1-18)?

Q2 Read Luke 24:1-48. Which additional evidence for the resurrection did you find? List them one by one.
