PASSAGE | 1 John 2:15-17

15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

THE PAUSE: 10 MINUTES WITH GOD

MONDAY | GOD OF THIS WORLD

PASSAGE: 2 Corinthians 4:4
PAUSE: In the New Testament, the term “world” is not a neutral word. It usually refers to the realm that Satan rules over and that wars against the gospel of God!
PRAYER: Precious Father, I’m living in enemy territory, and I desperately need You! Amen.

TUESDAY | FLESH PASSIONS

PASSAGE: I Peter 2:11
PAUSE: Christians are not of this world! We live here as exiles and strangers, which means we must say a constant “NO” to fleshly, worldly desires warring inside of us!
PRAYER: Precious Father, I am so often tempted by the pull of this world and the selfish impulses and drives of my old sinful nature. But in Christ, I have the power to say “no” and to live for You. Thank You, Jesus! Amen.

WEDNESDAY | DISORDERED LOVES

PASSAGE: I John 2:15
PAUSE: Warning! It is literally impossible to love God and love the world at the same time. One cancels out the other!
PRAYER: Precious Father, I choose to love You because You first loved me. Now help me, Lord, to love what You love and to hate what You hate! Amen.

THURSDAY | TWISTED DESIRES

PASSAGE: I John 2:16
PAUSE: God made us for Himself. To desire Him, worship Him, and glorify Him. But when those desires get directed to anything other than God, they become twisted, dangerous, and deadly.
PRAYER: Precious Father, when You saved me, You gave me a new heart designed to love and worship You. Forgive me when I take my eyes off You and get drawn towards worldly, selfish things. I need You! Amen.

FRIDAY | GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD

PASSAGE: John 3:16-17
PAUSE: This lost world needs saving and that is exactly what Jesus came to do! God’s heart toward us is love and that love was put into action on the cross of Christ.
PRAYER: Precious Father, thank You for not giving me what my sin deserves! Thank You for giving Your Son to die for my sins! I believe! Help me to continue to grow up in my faith. Amen.
