Parables (The Stories Jesus Told About Us)
Part II; February 25, 2024
Here is another story Jesus told: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field. 25 But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away. 26 When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew. 27 “The farmer’s workers went to him and said, ‘Sir, the field where you planted that good seed is full of weeds! Where did they come from?’ 28 “‘An enemy has done this!’ the farmer exclaimed. “‘Should we pull out the weeds?’ they asked. 29 “‘No,’ he replied, ‘you’ll uproot the wheat if you do. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds, tie them into bundles, and burn them, and to put the wheat in the barn.’” —Matthew 13:24-30 (NLT)
“The Power of Patience”
Don’t take the “weeds” of life
At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him. —John 6:66 (NLT)
Peter didn’t believe there would be fish on the other side of the boat…then he tried to walk on water and then sank like a rock…then he pulled Jesus aside and rebuked Him for saying He was going to be crucified…then he abandoned Jesus in the garden and denied he even knew Jesus in the courtyard. Then, on the day of Pentecost, he got up and preached and 3000 people got saved. Don’t quit! You may be just step away from success!!
Don’tin the weeds, focus on the !
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” —Matthew 9:36-38 (NLT)
Focus on whathappening, not on what isn’t!
Focus on how you’re, not how you’re still struggling!
Focus on those who are, not on those who aren’t!
Trust God and His process.
Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. —Psalm 37:7 (NLT)
Make sure you’re giving God time to work.
Make sure you’re giving God room to work.
Make sure you’ve giving God your trust to work.
