Matthew 18:14 NIV
In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.

Luke 15:4
“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?

Luke 15:6
and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’

Luke 15:9
And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’

Luke 15:24
For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

Luke 15:32
But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ ”

Why?

Because LOST PEOPLE MATTER TO GOD!

  • Something of Great Value has gone missing, lost!

  • That which is lost is so valuable, other things are put aside to search.

Why did the father not go after his prodigal son?

Luke 15:13 (ESV):
Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living.

Luke 15:20 (ESV):
And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.

  • When the lost is rescued or comes home it brings rejoicing.

1 Corinthians 9:22
“all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some”

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
