Be the One Who Speaks Life
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” —Proverbs 18:21 (NIV)
A bit in the mouth of a horse controls the whole horse. A small rudder on a huge ship in the hands of a skilled captain sets a course in the face of the strongest winds. A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything—or destroy it! —James 3:3-5 (MSG)
If we put bits into the mouth of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. —James 3:3 (ESV)

Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. —James 3:4 (ESV)

How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! —James 3:5 (ESV)

For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. —James 3:7-8 (ESV)
The tongue cannot be tamed … it must be surrendered
Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water. —James 3:12 (ESV)
Surrender: to relinquish possession or control of to another.
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. —James 3:17 (ESV)
