Week of Transformation and Victory

Day 1: Renewing the Mind

Reading: Romans 12:1-2

Devotional: In today’s passage, Paul urges us to be “transformed by the renewing of your mind.” This echoes the sermon’s emphasis on reprogramming our soulish nature. Just as we saw how a slave trader’s mind was renewed, leading him to write “Amazing Grace,” we too can experience profound transformation. Today, reflect on areas where your thinking may not align with God’s truth. Ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate any “twisted” thought patterns that need renewal. Remember, this is a process - be patient with yourself as you allow God’s Word to reshape your mind.

Day 2: Overcoming Temptation

Reading: James 1:12-15

Devotional: The sermon highlighted our ongoing struggle with temptation. James provides insight into this battle, reminding us that God doesn’t tempt us, but our own desires can lead us astray. Consider the areas where you feel most vulnerable to temptation. Instead of relying solely on willpower, focus on strengthening your spirit through prayer and Scripture. As the pastor noted, we have the power to choose - let’s choose to “dance with the one who brought us” by staying close to Jesus in moments of temptation.

Day 3: The Triune Nature of Humanity

Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

Devotional: Today’s passage speaks of our spirit, soul, and body - mirroring the sermon’s explanation of our triune nature. While our spirit is made perfect in Christ, our soul (mind, will, emotions) often needs alignment. Spend time in prayer, asking God to reveal areas where your soul may be out of sync with your spirit. Thank Him for His faithfulness in completing the work He’s begun in you. Remember, this process of sanctification is ongoing - be encouraged that God is at work in every part of your being.

Day 4: Walking in the Spirit

Reading: Galatians 5:16-25

Devotional: The sermon emphasized the importance of yielding to the Holy Spirit rather than our fleshly desires. Paul’s words in Galatians provide a vivid contrast between living by the Spirit and gratifying the flesh. > As you read the fruits of the Spirit, do a heart check - which of these qualities do you see growing in your life? Where do you still struggle? Ask the Holy Spirit to empower you to “keep in step with the Spirit,” trusting that He will guide you in God’s ways.

Day 5: Victory in Christ

Reading: Romans 8:31-39

Devotional: We end our week with a powerful reminder of our victory in Christ. The sermon stressed that we are “more than conquerors” through Jesus. Paul’s words in Romans 8 reinforce this truth - nothing can separate us from God’s love. Reflect on areas where you may feel defeated or condemned. Now, speak these verses over those situations, declaring your identity as a victor in Christ. Let this truth sink deep into your soul, renewing your mind and strengthening your faith. Remember, your victory isn’t based on your performance, but on Christ’s finished work.
