Book of Deuteronomy – the name for this book comes from the Greek word Deuteronomion which means “Second Law”

Genre: combination of narrative and laws divided into three concluding sermons of Moses
When: around 1446 BC to 1406 BC, probably between their exit from Egypt and entry to Canaan while
they are wandering in the wilderness.
Why: Moses’ final words to remind the young generation of Israel about God’s works, covenant, and guidelines for living before the people enter into the promised land under new leadership.
