  • Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV
    [20] Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, [21] to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

We all tend to say AMEN when we ask if we want MORE of GOD.
But to receive the MORE God has in STORE, we almost ALWAYS have to embrace the NEW he is calling us to.

  • Luke 5:37-39 NLT
    [37] “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the new wine would burst the wineskins, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. [38] New wine must be stored in new wineskins. [39] But no one who drinks the old wine seems to want the new wine. ‘The old is just fine,’ they say.”

New wine – new and fresh joy, peace, rest, intimacy and friendship with the Holy Spirit
Wineskins – the patterns, commitments, priorities, the mindsets in our life, the habits, the daily disciplines and decisions we make.

God empowers determined, daily decision.

    [15] But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

    [11] Give us this day our daily bread.

  • Luke 9:23 NLT
    [23] Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.

So, we serve a God that calls us to have a long term vision for our lives but also tells us not to worry about tomorrow and just focus one day at a time.

    [34] Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Both are true: You must have goals, a vision, a dream, for your life.
But the pathway to your life vision is paved by daily decision.

This is good news for anyone who feels like you have lost your way, gotten so far off. The enemy tries to convince us we are too far lost – why even bother? But you are a few daily decisions away from getting back on track towards God’s vision for your life.

    [10] Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.”(The seven lamps represent the eyes of the Lord that search all around the world.)

People who do extraordinary things do consistently what others do occasionally.

[19] But the man of God was angry with him. “You should have struck the ground five or six times!” he exclaimed. “Then you would have beaten Aram until it was entirely destroyed. Now you will be victorious only three times.”

The pathway to the new, the next, the more of God is faithfulness with the NOW of God.

The pathway to greatness that is seen by many faces is faithfulness with things in hidden places.

The enemy operates in procrastination and presumption: One day or some day. God’s word is give us “this day”

To experience the new God is calling us to and the more he has in store , we must defeat:

I. Comparison
The only person you are called to be better than this year is the person YOU were last year.

II. Complaining – when things don’t seem to be going your way.

  • Numbers 14:2-4 NIV
    [2] All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, “If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness! [3] Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?” [4] And they said to each other, “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”

The apostle Paul wrote the bible books of Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon all from prison.
As a believer in Jesus, faith for impossible things is now part of your DNA.

III. Complacency

We tend to grow complacent for one of several reasons: small mindedness, fear of failure, or present tense success and the comforts it brings.

[4] “Fear not, for you will not be ashamed;be not confounded, for you will not be disgraced;for you will forget the shame of your youth,and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more.

IV. Condemnation

  • Romans 7:24-25 NIV
    [24] What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? [25] Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

  • Romans 8:37 NIV
    [37] No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Which is true? Both! Paul understood how victorious he was when he was abiding in Christ, walking by the spirit, And how quickly he could get in his flesh when he wasn’t.

    [1] So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. [2] And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.

Daily mercies.

  • Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV
    [22] The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; [23] they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

You are going to have discouraging days. Days that you blow it. Days where you experience disappointment or defeat. Don’t allow a bad day to become a bad season.
Don’t allow Today’s discouragement to become tomorrow’s despair.

Don’t serve a sentence - The cross dealt with your past, even the past as recent as earlier today!
