Approach the Throne with Confidence
March 10, 2025

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” —Hebrews 4:16 NIV

Imagine being given unlimited access to the President of the United States for a day. No agenda too big, no question too small. You could walk right into the Oval Office, sit down, and have his undivided attention. What would you ask for? What would you discuss?

Or maybe it’s the Governor of our state—if you had their ear, what would you want to accomplish? What problems would you hope to solve?

The truth is, most of us would approach those opportunities with a mix of excitement and hesitation. We’d want to make the most of it, but we might feel intimidated or unsure of what to say.

But then, think about this:

We have daily, direct access to the Creator of the Universe. Not only does God allow us to come into His presence, but He also invites us to approach with confidence.

A Throne of Grace
The author of Hebrews paints a picture of God’s throne, but not as a throne of judgment or condemnation. It’s a throne of grace. It’s a place where we can receive mercy and find help in our times of need.

Yet, how often do we treat this access lightly? How often do we hold back our real needs, our big dreams, or our deepest fears from the One who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20)?

What Are You Asking God For?
Sometimes, I catch myself approaching God with small, safe prayers. Maybe you’ve been there too—keeping things surface level when God is inviting us to go deeper.

I want to encourage you today to come boldly. Bring your real needs, your real hopes, and your real fears to God. The invitation is not just to pray but to pray with confidence—to believe that He hears you and that He cares.

Make Space to Approach Him
I want to challenge you this week:

Set aside time to be with God—turn off your phone, create a quiet space, and pray.
Imagine you have a meeting with God—what would you ask for?
Write it down, and then pray boldly for it.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the invitation to come to Your throne of grace. Forgive me for the times I’ve held back or approached You with small, safe prayers. Help me to come boldly, to believe that You hear me, and to trust that You want to pour out Your grace and mercy in my life. Fill me with confidence, and guide my heart to pray prayers that align with Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
