Discipleship Pastor Ryan Akers

Prayer is Our Priority: The work of the Church is first and foremost prayer, by which all other work is led, empowered, and supported.
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. —Ephesians 6:18
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. —Philippians 4:6
Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. —Colossians 4:2
Never stop praying. —I Thessalonians 5:17
Getting better at prayer takes time, like learning to go potty when you were a baby. You didn’t have a clue as to what you were doing in the beginning, but eventually you got better, and we appreciate your commitment. —Unknown
Transactional Prayers
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. —Philippians 4:6
For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. —I Corinthians 1:25 (NIV)
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. —I Corinthians 3:19
For God is so wise and so mighty. Who has ever challenged him successfully? —Job 9:4
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:19
We look upon prayer simply as a means of getting things for ourselves, but the biblical purpose of prayer is that we may get to know God, Himself. —Oswald Chambers
I pray not because I want something from God, but because I desperately want God.
Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to him, or of exciting him to do his duty, or of urging him as though he were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on his promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into his bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things. —John Calvin
Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. If God is with me I have nothing to fear. —Psalm 23:4
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. —Proverbs 3:5-6
This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. —Hebrews 4:15
