DQ: Consecration: Choosing a Sacred Life - Pt. 1
May 4, 2025

Intro: Have you been baptized? If not, are you considering taking the church’s baptism class?

READ:
Genesis 2.1-3 (NIV)
Joshua 3.5 (NIV)
1 Corinthians 6.19 (NIV)

DISCUSS:

  1. Pastor Robert noted that it’s one thing to believe all life is sacred, and it’s another thing to believe that one’s own life is sacred in the day-to-day. Can you relate to the challenge of believing this second truth?

  2. Have you previously thought about reading Genesis 1 and 2 with “spiritual eyes” instead of “scientific eyes?” What are the differences between reading the creation account with these perspectives?

  3. Have you ever seen the creation story as God creating a cathedral? What does this description of God’s creative work bring to mind for you?

  4. Pastor Robert listed three elements to the sacred life: 1 - communion with God; 2 - no shame; 3 - a grand purpose. Which of these three do you most desire?

  5. What would it look like for you to choose to accept the gift of consecration from God? How would that impact your day-to-day?

  6. Will you be at CCC in four weeks for the Consecration Sunday?

PRAY:
Lord, thank you for creating us as sacred and for offering us your blessing. May we choose to accept the gift of consecration that you’re offering us, and enjoy communion with you, without shame, while embracing the grand purpose you have given our lives. Amen.
