This is My Son–Absalom (2 Samuel 18:24-33)

1. David, the father of Absalom, wished that he could have
   Reveal Answer
   in his son’s place.
2. Absalom
   Reveal Answer
   the hearts of the men of Israel by speaking
   Reveal Answer
   of David in the city gates while promoting himself.
3. Like Absalom, you rebel daily against your heavenly Father as you put yourself on the
   Reveal Answer
   of your heart and attempt to
   Reveal Answer
   your own life.
4. Yet out of His great love, God sent Jesus, the true Son of David, to be
   Reveal Answer
   by hanging from a tree for you in order to make you an heir of His heavenly kingdom.

Did you catch the irony? Absalom, out of hate, wants to take his father’s place on the throne. David, out of love, wishes he could take his son’s place… at the end of those three javelins. Are you surprised that David feels this way, after everything? Why or why not?
