Taking it further to help you THRIVE…

  1. Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

  2. From David’s perspective, why might it have seemed like God was not in control? What (if anything) sometimes causes you to think/feel that God is not in control? What (if anything) has convinced you that He is in control?

  3. Jonathan went to (pursued) David in the wilderness. What do we learn from these verses about how he helped David find strength in God? How can we apply this in our relationships with others?

  4. The Ziphites told Saul they would help him with whatever his heart desired (verse 20). Listen to your heart / Follow your heart is something we hear all the time all around us. Why is this bad advice? What is the difference between listen to your heart and listen to the Holy Spirit?

  5. How does adversity make us stronger? How can we better understand God’s purpose in allowing adversity in our life?

  6. ‘Just in the nick of time’ the Philistines invaded the land and immediately prompted Saul to turn away from pursuing David. (You’d think God had it planned this way :) How have you watched God move in your life ‘just in the nick of time’?
