Read Matthew 7:1-6 ESV
1.Icebreaker - When have you run into something because you were not looking where you were going?
2.Why is a condemning attitude towards the sins of others a negative thing for the church? Why is never talking about sin at all also negative?
3.Why is a gentle, restorative attitude towards the sins of others a positive thing for the church? What would it take for this to be a positive aspect among the partners of Advance?
4.What does it look like to “make war” on the sin? In what area is God calling you to do this now?
5.What makes the hypocrite that Jesus describes in the text? How do you see this hypocritical nature in yourself, either in the church or outside of it?
6.How does verse 6 influence the way we think of those outside the church?
7.How does the gospel teach us to be restorative when it comes to the sins of others? How has knowing Christ helped you to understand this in your own life?
