Colossians 2:6–7 NLT Freedom from Rules and New Life in Christ
And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
When we’re faithful to deepen our spiritual roots, God is faithful to increase our spiritual fruit.
Genesis 2:8 NLT Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made.
Jeremiah 17:5-8 NLT This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord. 6 They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land. 7 “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.
1. You can’t grow spiritually in your own strength.
2. You have to be planted to prosper.
3. Your confidence isn’t controlled by your conditions.
4. Be drought resistant.
5. Live faithfully fruitful.
It requires healthy roots to produce good fruit.
