Described the journey to get to them and how he felt about being with them: Opposition, Joy, Concern.

Gives them a list of things left unsaid they want them to practice doing more and more.
MAIN IDEA:
We have been instructed how to live, in order to please the Lord.
Now we are urged through Christ to do this more and more.
1 Thessalonians 4:1
1. Continue to believe God’s words are ACTUALLY God’s words - 2:13
2:13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe. NIV
Luke 18:16-17
16 But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” NIV
2. Serving God will come with a level of resistance. Don’t be surprised by that. 2:14-18
2:14b You suffered from your own people the same things those churches suffered from the Jews…18 For we wanted to come to you—certainly I, Paul, did, again and again—but Satan blocked our way. NIV
There is a fight for your soul in the spiritual realm you need to be aware of.
2:15 who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. NIV
3. Avoid sexual immorality, it will hijack your walk. 4:3-8
4:3 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control your own body[a] in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; 6 and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. 7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
Greek Word – Porneia – Where we get pornography from.
4:3a It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: 4:8b – the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit. NIV
4:8 Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit. NIV
4. Live a quiet life and earn the respect of outsiders. Let people see what you believe through your actions. 4:11-12
4:11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders. NIV

As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.
