for our soul…”

Have you ever felt

?

Have you ever been in a desperate situation?

Jonah 1:15
Then they took Jonah and threw him

Jonah 1:17
Now the Lord

a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish days and nights.

The same Lord who sent the storm is now the one who sends a fish.

We don’t always get to choose God provides.

Desperate People Pray!

Jonah 2:1
From inside the fish Jonah

to the Lord his God.

James 5:13

Never stop praying.

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers…

Jonah 2:2-7
“2. In my

I called to the Lord,
 and he answered me.
From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help,
 and you listened to my cry.
3. You hurled me into the depths,
 into the very heart of the seas,
 and the currents swirled about me;
all your waves and breakers
 swept over me.
4. I said, ‘I have been
 from your sight;
yet I will look again
 toward your holy temple.’
5. The engulfing waters threatened me,[b]
 the deep surrounded me;
 was wrapped around my head.
6. To the roots of the mountains I sank down;
 the earth beneath barred me in forever.
But you, Lord my God,
 brought my life up from the pit.
7. “When my life was ebbing away,
 I remembered you, Lord,
and my prayer rose to you,
 to your holy temple.”

What did Jonah pray? He prayed .

Jonah 2:9
But I, with shouts of grateful

,
will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’”

Jonah 2:10
And the Lord commanded the fish, and it

Jonah onto dry land.

Jonah’s deliverance and salvation were messy!

Questions to ponder:
• 1. How desperate are you?
• 2. Do you recognize God’s provision?
• 3. Are you planting God’s Word in your heart in ‘non-desperate’ times?
• 4. Do you need to praise before you see the miracle?
• 5. Do you need to accept that your deliverance may be messy?
