Sermon Details

Sermon: Family Service
Scripture: Matthew 12:46-50
Summary: What comes to mind when you hear the word family? Everyone has an answer because we are all part of one. Whether your earthly family is a source of joy or pain, there’s an invitation to belong to something far greater—the family of God. This family isn’t entered through effort or association but through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. As we explore Matthew 12, we’ll see that Jesus extends this invitation to everyone. The question is, will you accept it?

For Reflection and Discussion

Read Scripture: Matthew 12:46-50

  1. Reflection on Earthly Family:
How has your earthly family shaped your view of yourself and your worth? In what ways does this compare to how God sees you in His family?
  2. Understanding God’s Family:
What does it mean to you that belief in Jesus takes precedence over biological ties in determining spiritual family?
  3. God’s Will and Repentance:
Why is repentance and belief in Jesus essential for entry into God’s family? How does this challenge or encourage you personally?
  4. Radical Inclusion:
The invitation to join God’s family is extended to “whoever.” How does this truth shape how we view and treat others, both in and outside the Church?
  5. Challenges to Family Unity:
What are some ways Satan and society attack the concept of family (both earthly and spiritual)? How can we, as believers, stand firm against these challenges?
  6. Serving the Family of God:
How are you contributing to the life of your spiritual family? Are there areas where you feel God is calling you to serve more intentionally?
  7. Living Out the Invitation:
For those already in God’s family, what practical steps can you take to share the invitation to join God’s family with others?
  8. Jesus’ Example:
How does Jesus’ prioritization of doing His Father’s will inspire you to align your priorities? How might this look in your daily life?
