Sunday 1/21: Mark 2:1-12
As you read through today’s sermon text, ponder what God might be saying to you through the Holy Spirit and how you are led to respond.
Monday 1/22: Mark 2-3 (Read)
Seek to do a ‘reading from 3000 feet’ of these chapters, not focusing too intently on any part but just enjoying the whole. Note any words, passages, or ideas that stand out to you.
Prayer Prompt: What is the invitation of Jesus in this passage? Spend some time in prayer thanking God and pondering His invitation.
Tuesday 1/23: Read Mark 2:1-17 (Listen)
Calm yourself and then read passage reflectively two times, pausing for a few minutes between readings. After each reading ponder: what phrases, words, ideas stood out and why? Savor those words or ideas as a little word of God for you.
Prayer Prompt: Ponder with God how the ‘wine’ of Jesus has burst some of your ‘old wineskins’ and ask God for his continued guidance.
Wednesday 1/24: Mark 2:18-28 (Ponder)
Read the passage, or a section of the passage, reflectively two times, pausing a few minutes between readings. After each reading ponder what words, ideas, and passages, stood out to you.
Prayer Prompt: Ponder with God what this passage says to you about God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit, and about you as a beloved child of God.
Thursday 1/25: Mark 3:1-6 (Pray)
Read the passage twice reflectively, with pauses between each reading, listening attentively.
Has God addressed you in this word and invited you to respond?
Prayer Prompt: Allow the scripture to lead you into a prayer response. Do not censure your thoughts or requests; just let them flow spontaneously and freely before the Lord who loves you. Respond to God’s invitation to you.
Friday 1/26: Mark 3: 7-19 (Apply)
Read the scriptures twice as you have been doing through the week. Between readings ponder today’s readings and the readings from the week.
Prayer Prompt: What might be God saying to you in these passages? What might God be calling you to or leading you to understand? What action might God be calling you to take?
Saturday 1/27: Mark 3:20-33 (Prepare)
Read the passage two times and take times of quiet and reflection between.
Prayer Prompt: In contemplation ask God to prepare you for the challenges you face and to ground you in grace.
