Luke 3:21-38
3:21 | Although John’s was a baptism of repentance, Jesus did not need to repent. For Him, baptism was a means to identify Himself with sinners in order that they might identify with Jesus in His life (Isa. 53:9)
3:22 | The events at the baptism of Jesus present one of the Bible’s clearest pictures of the Trinity, with the entire Godhead present. The Son of God stood in the Jordan River, identifying Himself with sinful mankind. The Father spoke from heaven, affirming the Son. And the Spirit of God descended from heaven in the form of a dove, anointing the Son for His coming ministry.
3:23 | Jesus lived in relative seclusion for about 30 years without publicly revealing His true identity and purpose. But when the time of preparation ended, He began His work as the Son of heaven.
