Sermon Title: The Whole Gospel
Scripture: Romans 1:16-17
“Man is essentially a story-telling animal…a teller of stories that aspire to truth. That means I can only answer the question, “What am I to do?” if I can answer the prior question of “what story or stories do I find myself a part of?” “After Virtue - a study in Moral Theory” - Alasdair Mcintyre
All stories are trying to answer 4 fundamental questions about human existence:
- Why am I here?
- What’s gone wrong?
- What’s the solution?
- What will it look like when everything’s fixed?
The good news as told through the history of the church is a 4 part story that corresponds to each of those 4 questions.
- Creation.
- Fall.
- Redemption.
- Restoration.
Redemption restores the 4 relationships that’s been lost:
- We’re born again
- We’re given a new identity
- We’re restored to one another
- We’ll be restored to the world itself
