  1. Would you have expected people to receive Jesus better in Nazareth after Luke’s build up to that point?
  2. The year of Jubilee promised rest, release, redemption and restoration. How does Jesus still give those things today?
  3. Why do you think Jesus was received better in Capernaum than in Nazareth?
  4. What does Luke mean when He says that Jesus’ words “had authority?” (vs. 31,36)
  5. Who do you think the demon was referring to when he said “us” in the plural? (vs. 34)
  6. How does Jesus still demonstrate his power over the powers of darkness?
  7. Though not each and every sickness or illness is a direct product of sin (cf. Jn. 9:1-5), sin in a general sense is a result of the fall. What truths does Jesus’ healing of people in the Gospels point us to?
  8. Have you ever known someone to be healed in a way in which only God could?
  9. What do you make of Simon’s mother-in-law beginning to wait on her guests immediately after she was healed? (v. 39)
  10. Why do you think Jesus silenced the demons “because they knew he was the Messiah?” (v. 41)
