- Would you have expected people to receive Jesus better in Nazareth after Luke’s build up to that point?
- The year of Jubilee promised rest, release, redemption and restoration. How does Jesus still give those things today?
- Why do you think Jesus was received better in Capernaum than in Nazareth?
- What does Luke mean when He says that Jesus’ words “had authority?” (vs. 31,36)
- Who do you think the demon was referring to when he said “us” in the plural? (vs. 34)
- How does Jesus still demonstrate his power over the powers of darkness?
- Though not each and every sickness or illness is a direct product of sin (cf. Jn. 9:1-5), sin in a general sense is a result of the fall. What truths does Jesus’ healing of people in the Gospels point us to?
- Have you ever known someone to be healed in a way in which only God could?
- What do you make of Simon’s mother-in-law beginning to wait on her guests immediately after she was healed? (v. 39)
- Why do you think Jesus silenced the demons “because they knew he was the Messiah?” (v. 41)
