The Comeback is Greater Than the Setback

1 Peter 5:8
8  Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for
someone to devour.

The Setback
1. The Enemy is a Liar

John 8:44
44  He (The Evil One) was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no
truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

2. God is with you in the setback

3. You have to train to get through the setback

Ephesians 6:11
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

"Pray as if everything depends on God, and work as if everything depends on you" – St. Ignatius
of Loyola or St Augustine

“If you want to change things in a big way, then you need to make some big changes.” – Rocky

The Comeback

1. The setback will help prepare us for the comeback.

Romans 5:2-5

And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.  3  Not only so, but we also glory in our
sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;  4  perseverance, character; and
character, hope.  5  And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out
into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

2. Setbacks need to happen in order for the comeback to happen.

1 Corinthians 15:13-22
13  If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.  14  And if Christ has
not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.  15  More than that, we are then found
to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the
dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised.  16  For if the dead are not raised,
then Christ has not been raised either.  17  And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you
are still in your sins.  18  Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost.  19  If only for this
life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
20  But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen
asleep.  21  For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a
man.  22  For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
