the character and nature of God.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. —Isaiah 40:28-29

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” —Romans 8:15

for God’s mission and glory.

May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us— so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you. —Psalm 67:1-3

with a community of believers.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. —Acts 2:42-44

MAKE IT MATTER

a sermon-based discussion guide for Grace Church small groups and individuals
What does it say?

Read Epheisans Ephesians 2:2-8

What does it mean?

  • In Ephesians 2:2-3, How are people living in sin obeying the devil?
  • Discuss what it means to be “subject to God’s anger”. www.gotquestions.org may be helpful (search “God’s anger”).
  • Read Ephesians 2:4-10. Make a list of all that God has done and continues to do for us as listed in these verses .

Why does it matter?

  • How does this Eph. 2:2-10 impact your view of God’s character?
  • As you witness God’s passion for you displayed in these verses, how does that impact your view of yourself, your worth and your identity in Christ?

What will you do?

  • What are some “good things God planned for you” that you have done. List those, and thank God for the opportunities.
  • Now, as you reflect on your identity in Christ, what are some of the next “good things”, some ways God is calling you to live your life to on mission that gives him glory?
  • This week, encourage someone with words of affirmation that reflect the identity you see in them.

Reading Plan: to prepare for next week’s message, “Walk Like Jesus”, you are encouraged to read John 13 & 14.
