PART 3 - Disciples vs. Converts

A. DISCIPLESHIP HELPS ROOT A PERSON IN CHRIST

If a person has been won to Christ, but not

– and they fall away from Christ – it is more difficult to win the person to Christ a second time.

There is a great problem with

of those who have not been discipled to walk with Christ.

One of the best ways to help people not go back to their non-Christian way of life is to make sure they are disciple – secured in their walk with and commitment to

.

Scripture talks about a “great falling away” someday – that will be in part because people were not rooted and grounded in Christ.

helps people grow a deep root in Christ and in His .

AS LEADERS, AND AS CHRIST FOLLOWERS, WE MUST MAKE SURE THAT EVERY PERSON IS DISCIPLED TO WALK WITH CHRIST.

without discipleship is like fathering children without raising them.

God will hold us

for what we do with the new believers He has given to our care.

B. MULTIPLICATION OF DISCIPLES - CHURCH GROWTH

“And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, ‘Be saved from this perverse generation.’ Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles… And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:40-47

“And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty)…” Acts 1:15

Because of the anointing power of the HOLY SPIRIT:

• 3,000 men came to Christ - Acts 2:41
• 5,000 men came to Christ - Acts 4:4
• A multitude of men and women received Christ - Acts 5:14

C. WHAT DID THE EARLY CHURCH HAVE THAT CAUSED IT TO GROW?

Bible colleges?

Money?
Buildings?
Elegant setups?
Bible/ New Testament?

The Early Church had three critical things:

  1. A strong desire to tell others about

Are you allowing the Holy Spirit a central place in your life and church?
This does not mean having a certain style of worship or just talking about the Holy Spirit; but it does mean welcoming the Holy Spirit to

and at all times.

WE

THE HOLY SPIRIT MORE NOW THAN EVER BEFORE!
