Second Thessalonians 1:3 / NLT, “Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing.”

1. my thinking concerning adversity.
Luke 18:1 / CSB, “Now he told them a parable on the need for them to pray always and not give up.”

proseúchomai - to offer prayers; prostrate

Matthew 26:41 / ESV, “Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is
weak.”

John 16:33 / ESV, “I have said these things to you, that in me
you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world.

2. persistent for the right reasons.
Luke 18:2-8a / CSB, “There was a judge in a certain town who
didn’t fear God or respect people. 3 And a widow in that town
kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me justice against my
adversary.’ 4 “For a while he was unwilling, but later he said to
himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or respect people, 5 yet
because this widow keeps pestering me, I will give her justice,
so that she doesn’t wear me out by her persistent coming.’”
6 Then the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says.
7 Will not God grant justice to his elect who cry out to him day
and night? Will he delay helping them? 8 I tell you that he will
swiftly grant them justice…”

Romans 12:12 / CSB, “Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be
persistent in prayer.”

*Ephesians 6:18 / NLT, *“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every
occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all
believers everywhere.”

proskarteréō - to be consistent; to
persevere and not give up

3. in position with faithfulness.
Luke 18:8b / CSB, “…Nevertheless, when the Son of Man
comes, will he find faith on earth?”

Psalm 92:12-15 / ESV, “The righteous flourish like the palm tree
and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 They are planted in the
house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They
still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green,
15 to declare that the Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is
no unrighteousness in him.”
