1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 NASB

Intermediate Heaven vs Final Heaven
*John 14:1-3 “Do not let your heart be troubled; [a]believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that where I am, there you also will be.

13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. *
“Caught up” is the word from which we get the term Rapture.
(rapturo) = Snatch up
Dead first = ressurected
Alive second = translated
What does a resurrected body look like?
1 Corinthians 15:35-49 (just reference on the screen and notes)
1 Corinthians 15 talks about this resurrected body through a series of comparisons
Continuity Principle: your new physical body will be exactly what your body is like, only perfected
**Paul drives this home with more comparisons:
it is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body
it is sown in dishonor (humiliation), it is raised in glory
it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power
it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body (completed)**
So I want you to picture this then all together if we were standing here on Earth when it happens…
*When does the rapture happen? *

Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. 2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.
Day of the Lord: What did Paul say they already know full well???

Daniel 9:24-27 and the 70 weeks.
So Cool: Daniel prophesies 69 weeks or 483 years from the restoration of the temple until Messiah the Prince comes
How can you say there is no God… I can’t even predict when the toast is going to pop up…
The 70th week is a time called the day of the Lord
**In Revelation:
7 Seals, 7 Trumpets, 7 Thunders, 7 Bowls
Escalating catastrophe Starts off more mildly and ends
Militarism, Warfare, Famine, Death, Persecution and Martyrdom
Ending with barbaric horsemen killing 1/3 of the world’s population, the sea turning to blood, etc
AntiChrist, His description of the temple by which he will name himself God, New World Order, Mark of the Beast:666.
Jesus will use these events to create the New Heavens and the New Earth
No more intermediate heaven! **
Warnings…

3 While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; 5 for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; 6 so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and [sober. 7 For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night. 8 But since we are of the day, let us be [g]sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. 11 Therefore [h]encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. *
Why does it matter to us today?
All this information is supposed to do one thing.
The rapture brings us HOPE.
His ask to take part in this plan is so simple:
will you follow me?
will you give your life to me and allow me to do all this for you?
Stop playing the religious game…
We give our short lives to gain all of eternity.
Jesus wants you to view everything you do for him through this lens of hope for all eternity.
When you give…
When you serve…
When you learn…
When you love…
When you share the gospel…
