  1. Reread Matthew 8:23-9:8. How do these three miracles display the authority of Jesus and His true identity?

  2. How do we reconcile Jesus’ authority with the brokenness we still experience in this world? How does recognizing Jesus’ authority change the way we respond to suffering and spiritual warfare?

  3. How do you tend to treat symptoms (stress, fear, shame, etc.) instead of addressing the root issue of sin?

  4. What is the difference between turning to Jesus to fix your problems and submitting to Him as your Lord?

  5. How does Jesus’ victory over sin foreshadow the redemption that is coming to the natural and spiritual realms?

  6. What is your personal response to Jesus’ authority? How does it compare to the responses we see in the passage (the disciples, the demons, the townspeople, the crowd)?
