SAVING GRACE

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. —Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)

SANCTIFYING GRACE

11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age… —Titus 2:11-12 (NIV)

SHARING GRACE

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. —2 Corinthians 9:8 (ESV)

SERVING GRACE

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. —1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

STRENGTHENING GRACE

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” —2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. —Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)

7 Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. —2 Corinthians 12:7-10 (NIV)

INSIGHTS WE CAN LEARN FROM PAUL’S STORY

1. God’s desire was to keep Paul humble and dependent upon Him.

“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” —James 4:6 (NIV)

2. The grace imparted to Paul was of greater value than the removal of the thorn.

3. Paul recognizes that God’s power is revealed through his weakness.
