When Life Gives You Lemons…Pray!

May 4, 2025

  • We have a well of prayer in this house.
  • It’s time to the well of prayer is our personal lives and in our church.

1. Develop the default response of seeking the kingdom, not praying as a resort.

  • Acts 1-2 shows that the early church started in a prayer meeting, and then in prayer.

And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. 24 So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord…29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” 31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. —Acts 4:23-24a, 29-31

2. Realize that prayer In the spiritual DNA of born again believer .

  • Inside of ever believer is the deep desire for communion and prayer.

But you,

you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. —Matthew 6:6

Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
2 So He said to them, “

you pray, say

> Our Father in heaven,
> Hallowed be Your name.
> Your kingdom come.
> Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.

> 4 And forgive us our sins,
> For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
> And do not lead us into temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one.” —Luke 11:1-4

3. Prayer is a privilege, not a - but it does require intentionality.

Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. 8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. —1 Timothy 4:7-8

Training - Gymnazo:
a) There’s a stripping down involved in exercise.

, just the essentials.
b) Exercise involves repetition, intentional consistency. It’s purposeful.
c) Exercise is vigorous. It involves , sometimes strenuous.

Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. —Matthew 18:19

4. 25 of the 28 chapters in Acts focus on what happens when believers .

“Upon this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” —Matthew 16:18

  • EVERY difficulty and EVERY challenge is an for God to show Himself strong on our behalf and be glorified. So we will never stop praying.

Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. —Acts 12:5 -

  • Acts 13:2 - We have the rest of the of Acts in part because of this prayer meeting.

  • Prayer is

    with heaven.

I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them. —Ezekiel 36:37
