Message Notes
“In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach, until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, ‘you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.’” —Acts 1:1-5
What are some common responses to seasons of waiting?
We become angry and bitter
We become discouraged and disillusioned
We become impatient, stubborn, and even sinful
Why does God allow us to enter into seasons of waiting?
- He wants to teach us to trust Him and rely on Him
“Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.” —Isaiah 64:4
- He wants to strengthen us and grow us
“Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired,
they will walk and not become weary.” —Isaiah 40:31
- He wants to protect us.
- He wants to bless us.
“Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him.” —Isaiah 30:18
What does God want us to do while we’re waiting on Him?
- Pray
“All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.” —Acts 1:14

Stay obedient.
Believe that God is a good Father who is up to good things!

“Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up.” —Galatians 6:9
