On the edge of the promised land, one man was chosen to finish the task that Moses had left undone. Joshua began as a humble servant of Moses, faithful to do as he was instructed. Out of twelve spies, only Joshua and Caleb trusted that God would keep His word and bring them to a good land flowing with milk and honey. God spoke to Joshua and told him of the great things He would accomplish. The hero of this story is God, who was faithful to an unfaithful people. The people had experienced God’s care from the moment the nation of Israel left Egypt. God brought them through the desert, providing food and water for them, and leading them in the cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night. God used Joshua to deliver the people of Israel from their enemies and bring them into the land He had promised to give to them. After years of wandering, the people experienced rest! Yet, in spite of all the Lord had done, the majority of the people did not trust their God.

It can be hard to be faithful to God when others won’t. God is faithful to His people, and will always make good on His promises. God will accomplish His work, and we can rest in Him!
