WORSHIP THAT MISSED THE MARK

Matthew 21:1-17

I. INTRODUCTION:
A. The timing and the sequence of this parade of worship:

1. Carnal/self-centered worship is triggered externally
with a desire to “get”:
2. Spiritual/Christ-centered worship is triggered
internally with a desire to “give”:

“The Greek word “worship” literally means “forward to kiss” – kissing the ground
before the one being worshipped. Worship is actively expressing with our heart,
honor and worth to Christ with a humble attitude of reverential awe that is
practically demonstrated in our actions when we allow Christ to control all that
we are, all that we have, and every aspect of our future on a daily basis. What we
worship and how we worship will dictate who we are and why we do what we do.”
II. THE RIGHT TIME AND THE RIGHT ROUTE, BUT THE
WRONG COURTYARD:
A. Christ provides the specifics of this “worship” rally:

   B. Christ discloses His response to the “worship” rally:

III. PRINCIPLES TO PERSONALLY APPLY:
(Together becoming “people of the Word” in principle AND in practice)
A. It takes addressing my indifference to the Gospel to
cleanse the “appropriate” courtyard. (review worship

B. It takes a House of Prayer to fill the “appropriate”
courtyard.
C. It takes the proper motives to worship in the
“appropriate” courtyard.

Sinners Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, I was made by you and I was made for you, but
I have been living for myself. I am sorry for that self-rule you call sin.
I believe that Jesus Christ being my creator God, died, was buried,
and rose again to pay the insurmountable debt that my sin has
created since birth. So right now, I am turning from a life of going my
own way, to by faith, place my trust in Jesus Christ, to pay the debt of
all my sin, and to get me to heaven, when I breath my last breath.
Lord Jesus, from today on, I am yours. Thanks for saving me, this
very moment, in Jesus name, Amen.
