CREATING MOMENTUM
8-11 Rahab said, “I know that God has given you the land. We’re all afraid. Everyone in the country feels hopeless. We heard how God dried up the waters of the Red Sea before you when you left Egypt. We heard it and our hearts sank. We all had the wind knocked out of us. —Joshua 2:8-11 (TMB)
KEY: Overcome Fear
Have you ever watched a toddler learn to walk? It starts with a crawl and then standing, teetering with assistance. As the little muscles develop along with hand, leg and eye co-ordination, there comes a waddle with many falls, then the amble and every tired parent who has chased to protect their toddler knows, the running! There is something in their fearlessness to not only try something, but inevitably even as they fail, they fail fast, recover and move forward. The excitement of the ultimate goal— independence and freedom of personal movement usually outweighs the falling and failures to becoming mobile.
I firmly believe that one of the reasons children are so resilient and fearless in their attempts at new things has a lot to do with who is close to them them. They instinctively know that their mother or father would not let them get hurt. There is usually someone nearby cheering them on especially when they fall. Getting right back up is welcomed and expected.
Somewhere along the line we grow up and become afraid. Along with fear, comes stagnation as we build excuses as to why attempts will all end in failure and are futile. We convince ourselves right out of opportunity.
What if we learned from toddlers and realized that failure is NOT the end, but rather the beginning. That in our attempts to creating acceleration, the muscles of our character must be strengthened to carry the full weight of purpose. There must also be a coordination of the posture of our heart in alignment with the Word of God that will attest to our motives. When we are fully running, we want to be within the boundaries God has established and not left to be run over by the wiles of the devil.
If we reframed failure as a pathway to success, it would allow us to reframe our fear. Overcome fear by failing forward, failing faster and creating momentum to success.
NEXT STEPS:
What is something that you have shelved because you “failed” at it. Take it off the shelf and dust it off. Analyze why you failed, find corrective action and make a plan to try again. Learn from your failure and pursue again. Seek God’s guidance and wise counsel as you pursue this time.
Don’t forget to pray about it. Set your alarm to join us in prayer tomorrow and every Wednesday at 6:00am for our Corporate Prayer Gathering. (Insert Zoom Link here)
