We are all on a journey to the

of faith, salvation and placement in heaven—seated with Christ.

When we face a trial and allow our faith to be tested, we are actually

our faith.

Only a

can reveal to us the genuineness of our faith.

The mindset of the believer: “My confidence in my

hope brings me confidence of a hope.”

that test and prove our faith are more desirable to us than gold.

We answer the question “

?” by turning our hope into our hope.

If we can trust God for our

and heaven, we can trust Him for between here and there.

The Christian life is not about

; the Christian life is about .

When we trust God for our eternal life but find ourselves in a tug-of-war in this life, we are revealing the internal struggle of the sin nature between God and man, which is a matter of control.

The trial begins when control is lost; the irony is that faith and trust begin when

is given up.

David was walking in

that he would see God’s goodness in the present time (not just eternity).

David’s trust in God was not absent trials, struggle and even his own sin nature.

David’s trust in God was higher than his trust in man and the strength of mankind.

David’s trust in God was based on the

of God and the of God.

Trusting God is a decision we make and is not

by our circumstances.

Habakkuk commits to praising God

of external circumstances.

When we do not see the hand of God around us, we must remember His work

us.

Attributes of God that show us we can trust God:

Youth Questions

  1. In times of uncertainty, there is an opportunity to build and show your genuine faith. What trials in your life are you currently facing that could be testing your confidence in God?

  2. Pastor Marty said “The more we hope for what’s awaiting in heaven, the more we can embrace the moment we’re in today.” What do you think that means, and how can we embrace God today?

  3. If faith begins when control is released, it can show us who is in charge of our life. What is something in your life you are currently holding on to and trying to control that you can surrender to God?

  4. We heard in today’s message that David’s faith was in God and he trusted Him because he knew God. Take a moment today and write down some promises and attributes of God to remind yourself that you can trust Him.
