grace is filled with thousands of promises for your present and future… life, peace, hope, joy, mercy, love, supply… God’s children are freely given all things…
Jer 29:11… “plans I have for you… plans for good… give you a future and hope…”
John 10:10… “I have come to bring you life… and life more abundantly…”
John 14:27… “peace I leave with you… My peace I give to you… do not fear…”
Rom 8:17-32… “co-heirs with Christ… freely given all things…”
Rom 15:13… “may the God of hope fill you with joy and peace as you believe…”
Eph 2:4… “God, who is rich in mercy… because of His great love for us…”
Phil 4:19… “my God will supply all your needs… in Christ Jesus…”
Col 1:13… “rescued from authority of darkness… transferred to authority of Son…”
don’t hear too many wonderful things about our past… often warned to ignore it and forget it… unhealthy and unproductive to think about your past life…
Gen 26:2… “don’t go back down to Egypt (past bondage, sin, slavery)…”
Isa 43:18… “do not remember the things of old… do not dwell on the past…”
Jer 42:15-17… “if you go back to Egypt… fear will overtake you… you will die…”
Phil 3:12-18… “forgetting what is behind… reaching forward to what is ahead…”
Jesus is Lord of all… past, present, future… must remember something He did to give you a brand-new past that determines your present and future… pray…
what happened in the past that is so critical to present and future… you died…
Rom 6:8… “if we died with Christ… we believe we will also live with Him…”
Gal 2:20… “been crucified with Christ… I no longer live… Christ lives in me…”
Col 2:20… “you died with Christ… set free from spiritual powers of this world…”
Col 3:3… “you died to this life… your real life is hidden with Christ in God…”
one of the most important things in our life happened at the cross… got brand new life with brand new past… most Christians are unaware of the true significance of the cross… basis of our new life with Christ is revelation we died with Him…
Rom 6:3… “are you unaware… joined with Him in baptism… joined in His death…”
2Cor 5:14-15… “Christ died for all… we have died to our old life… He died so those who receive His new life will no longer live for themselves… instead, they will live for Christ…”
2Tim 2:11… “if we died with Him… we shall also live with Him…”
You have died! You are done with! You are ruled out! The self you loathe is on the Cross in Christ. He that is dead is freed from sin (Rom 6:7). This is the Gospel. Every man-made religion preaches dying to self, but the bible simply declares, you died! Our crucifixion can never be made effective by will or effort, but only by accepting what Jesus did on the cross. Must we ask God to crucify us? Never! What did You Lose?
in order to live victoriously… must understand three things… what you lost, what you gained, and what you kept at the cross… first, you lost your old self… person you used to be is dead… dead people don’t respond well to change… if old self was bitter, mean, unforgiving… go dance on his grave… he’s dead, not coming back…
Rom 6:6-7… “old self was crucified with Christ so sin might lose its power in our lives… no longer slaves to sin… when we died, were set free from power of sin…”
also lost all your sin… sin had a death grip on you, but Christ cut sin loose… may still wrestle with bad habits… but from place of freedom, not slavery (choice)…
Psa 103:12… “as far as the east is from the west… has He removed sin from us…”
Gal 5:1… “Christ set us free… don’t fall back into a yoke of slavery…”
Col 2:11… “in Him… put off body of sins… by circumcision of Christ…”
lost anxiety… lost relationship with law… lost gsc… lost natural inability to please God… lost the grip of the world… lost all fear of punishment…
John 16:33… “in Me, you may have peace… in this world, you will have trouble…”
Rom 7:6… “released from the law… died to what held us…”
Rom 8:1… “therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus…”
Rom 8:8… “those under the control of sin cannot please God…”
Gal 6:14… “the world has been crucified to me… and I to the world…”
1John 4:18… “perfect love drives out fear… because fear involves punishment…”
What did You Gain?
at the cross… you gained righteousness… peace… holiness… wisdom and mind of Christ… faith… acceptance… forgiveness… life… eternal perfection… identity…
Rom 3:21-26… “the righteousness of God thru faith in Jesus Christ…”
Rom 5:1-9… “declared righteous by His blood… have peace… saved from wrath…”
1Cor 1:30… “in Christ… He became wisdom for us… He made us holy…”
1Cor 2:16… “we have the mind of Christ…”
Gal 2:20… “crucified with Christ… live by the faith of the Son of God…”
Eph 1:6… “He made us accepted in the Beloved…”
Col 2:13… “being dead in sin… He made us alive… forgave all our sins…”
Col 3:3-4… “for you died… life is hidden with Christ… Christ is our life…”
Heb 10:14… “by one offering… He has perfected forever those who are holy…”
1John 4:17… “as He is… so are we in this world…”
at the cross you gained supply… confidence to approach throne and receive help… full inheritance… most of all, a Father who loves you and calls you His own…
1Cor 2:12… “received HS… may understand what has been freely given us…”
Heb 4:16… “approach throne of grace with boldness… help us in time of need…”
Heb 9:15… “receive promise of inheritance… because a death has taken place…”
1John 3:1… “see what great love the Father has given us… called His children…”
What did You Keep?
two things didn’t change… physical body wears out (tent, not home)… thinking did not change… mind shaped by etp… key to victorious living is changing way you think… only you can do that… how, by looking to Jesus and seeing how He gave you a brand new past and a glorious present and future… pray…
Rom 8:23… “we groan… eagerly waiting for the redemption of our body…”
1Cor 15:50-58… “dying bodies must be transformed… mortal into immortal…”
Rom 12:2… “do not be conformed… be transformed… by renewing of your mind…”
Eph 4:17-32… “truth is in Jesus… be renewed in the spirit of your minds…”
