4 ACTION STEPS FOR LENT:
1. WE
A. Have a daily plan for your relationship with God.
B. Have a daily plan for the key relationships in your life.
C. Have a plan for other key relationships.
“As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:38–42, NIV)
“Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom! (Proverbs 4:6–8, MSG)
“Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.” (Lamentations 3:40, NIV)
2. WE
“From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:17, ESV)
“Repent [change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret past sins, live your life in a way that proves repentance; seek God’s purpose for your life], for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 3:2, AMP)
A. What behavior do you need to repent from?
B. Where do you need to change your thoughts?
C. Is God calling you to fast or sacrifice during Lent?
D. Pray every day for the areas you need to repent.
3. WE
“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” (2 Corinthians 5:14–15, NIV)
A. Pray to live for God each day.
B. Pray for opportunities to love others.
C. Love and encourage at least one person a day.
“God, I offer myself to Thee - to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always!” (AA // Third Step Prayer)
4. WE
“The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9)
Action Steps: Practice these steps each day between now and Easter and see how much you will grow!
