2. What is it like to have sin for a master? What is is like to be a slave to God? (When discussing, think about freedoms we have or don’t have, powers at work in our life, near- and long-term outcomes and consequences of each, etc.)
3. Paul stressed that those who were once slaves of sin had become obedient from the heart to God’s Word (verse 17). What does it mean to be obedient from the heart? What other kind of ‘obedience’ is there? Explain the difference.
4. We referenced the potter and the clay in Sunday’s message. I am the clay in God’s hands, and He wants to make me as He (the Potter) desires, molding and shaping every area of my life. What part(s) of your life might you be withholding from Him / resisting His molding / fighting against Him? Why is it hard for you to let Him be the Potter in these areas?
5. On Sunday we talked about ‘sanctification’ (verse 19). What does that word mean and what does sanctification ‘look like’ in the life of a born again believer in Jesus Christ?
