Discussion Questions

  1. The fruits of the spirit which can also be called the products or forces of our spirit are listed in Galatians 5:22-23. They are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. Which of these spiritual forces do you think might be the one you use the most in your life at present and why do you think that particular fruit is the one most used?

  2. Jesus said in Mark 16:17 that some powerful and miraculous signs will follow the believers such as casting out demons; speaking with new tongues; being protected from poisons and laying hands on the sick, and have them recover. Can anyone in the group relate such an event that they have experienced or seen another person experience?

  3. When we are seeking God’s miraculous power, why is it so important that we only speak and act after sensing directions from the Holy Spirit and obey His directions precisely?
    • Proverbs 3:5-6 clearly says that we must not lean to our own understanding but let the Lord guide us. Trying to do things out of God’s will insures that we’ll be acting own mental abilities and that will not give us access to God’s spiritual power. This is why Jesus never did anything or say anything that He didn’t first hear from His Father. Trying to do things that we want to do rather than acting when and how the Holy Spirit tell us to won’t work.

  4. In what way does ignoring the voice of your spirit (which also known as your conscience) hurt decrease your spiritual strength?
    • Ignoring your spirit repeatedly and instead doing what your natural desires want you to do will train your mind to disregard your spirit’s directions. And every time you repeat that act it will weaken your spirit and it will eventually become your habit to ignore your spirit. This will make it very difficult if not impossible for you to detect the Holy Spirit when He tries to direct you through your spirit.

  5. Why is spiritual communication far superior to natural communication?
    • Our natural senses are easily impacted by information that can be instigated by our enemy. He can easily use natural communications from friends, employers, family members, and opportunities that aren’t from the Lord to misdirects us and get us on the wrong path that is not God’s will for our lives.
