Colossians 1:24-2:5
We will talk about 3 great mysteries…and how an understanding of these 3 great mysteries gives us perspective, power, provision, and protection.
MYSTERY 1: The Mystery of the
● Perspective
○ As a believer I am a part of “his body, which is the church” (Col. 1:24)
○ Service and suffering are normal parts of being in His body (Col. 1:24-25)
MYSTERY 2: The Mystery of the
● Power
○ “Christ is in you, the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27)
○ We labor “with all His energy”–the gospel is not about our own effort (Col. 1:29)
MYSTERY 3: The Mystery of the
● Provision and Protection
○ “ALL the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” are in Christ, contrary to the
Gnostic’s perspective that Christ was a piece of God’s wisdom (Col. 2:3)
○ Knowing this protects us from “fine sounding arguments” that are deceptive (Col.
2:4)
How can I apply the 3 great mysteries?
- You have a role in the body of Christ –
- You have hope in you because of Christ –
- You have all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge in Christ –
