Truth #4: The Sin Problem
Adam and Eve were originally created good and upright, as God said in Genesis 1:26 [NLT], “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.” However, by choosing to disobey God’s command, they fell and thereby experienced not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God.
Romans 5:12 [NLT] When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.
Genesis 2:16-17 [NLT] But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— 17 except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”
Genesis 3:6 [NLT] The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.
