Genesis 6:5-7 (NLT) The LORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. 6 So the LORD was sorry (to groan, or grieve because of the misery of others) he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart (feeling of sorrow). 7 And the LORD said, “I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing—all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them.”
Genesis 6:12 (NLT) God observed all this corruption in the world, for everyone in the world, everyone on earth was corrupt (sahat, sha-hath, meaning to pervert, moral corruption).
Genesis 6:8 (NLT) “But Noah found favor (grace) with the Lord.”
1. Noah the
Genesis 6:9 (NLT) Noah was a righteous (treat others right, to live a pure moral life before God and others) man, the only blameless (to have integrity, same word to describe the sacrifices used in worship in the Old Testament.) person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.
** Genesis 6:22 (NLT)** So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.
Matthew 24:38-39 (NLT) In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. 39 People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.
2. Noah the
Genesis 9:20-23 (NLT) After the flood, Noah began to cultivate the ground, and he planted a vineyard. 21 One day he drank some wine he had made, and he became drunk (sakar, sha-hair, become drunken, intoxicated with drink or drugs) and lay naked (a deliberate uncovering) inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw (raa, raw-a, a way of ridiculing) that his father was naked and went outside and told (nagad, na-gad, to announce with delight) his brothers. 23 Then Shem and Japheth took a robe, held it over their shoulders, and backed into the tent to cover their father. As they did this, they looked the other way so they would not see him naked.
Proverbs 20:1 (NLT) Wine produces mockers; alcohol leads to brawls. Those led astray (swerve or meandar) by drink cannot be wise.
3. Noah The
Hebrews 11:7 (NLT) It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed (moved with fear or reverence) God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.
2nd Peter 2:5 (NIV) he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness.
