Kingdom Domination - part 8
Matthew 4:23
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
HEALING is not a
Greek says it this way:
κηρύσσων- proclaiming - to be a herald… to stand with the authority of the king and release a law into a community and atmosphere.
εὐαγγέλιον - the gospel - God’s GOOD NEWS
τῆς - of the - tes - means pointing to the origin of…
βασιλείας - Kingdom - basileia is captilized in the Greek - Specifically the name of places where God’s sovereign reign changes things…
καὶ - with… - KJV reads this as “AND”… never adveristive (like however)… always connective… in this context it much more means “indeed”…
preaching the gospel of the kingdom, “INDEED” healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people…
θεραπεύων - healing -therapeuó WHERE WE GET THERAPY from - means TO SERVE by HEALING.
πᾶσαν - EVERY - pás (“each, every”) means “all” in the sense of “each (every) part that applies.” The emphasis of the total picture then is on “one piece at a time until the whole is taken care of”.
νόσον - disease - incurable ailment.
πᾶσαν - EVERY - (same as above)
μαλακίαν - sickness - a problem that weakens, disables or dibilitates a person.
EVERY INCURABLE AILMENT.
EVERY THING THAT WEAKENS, DISABLES OR DIBILITATES…
Matthew 13:58
58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
It says not many were healed…that means he DIDN’T HEAL EVERY!!!
This is NOT saying that every single person He came into contact with received healing… it meant EVERYONE HE WAS CALLED TO HEAL WAS HEALED FULLY.
~ SOME STEP BY STEP ~ UNTIL TOTAL HEALING TOOK PLACE.
- JESUS DID NOT OPERATE BASED ON NEED.
- HE OPERATED BASED ON PURPOSE.
Sometimes we get exhausted because we see need and we try to fill it without asking God if we are supposed to…
John 5:19 - NLT
19 So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
WE NEED TO LEARN TO BE LED - OR WE WILL BE EXHAUSTED.
If someone who DOES NOT HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD has a sickness or disease - you need to be led to pray for them… if they are not in the position to receive you may not be helping…
IF SOMEONE SAYS THEY DO - THEN YOU CAN ALWAYS PRAY FOR THEM AND HELP THEM - BECAUSE THEY ALREADY HAVE HEALING THEY HAVE NOT ACCESSED.
EXAMPLE #3: WOMAN CAUGHT IN ADULTERY
John 8:1 - 4
1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
- “THEY HAD SET HER IN THE MIDST”
histémi - to make to stand, to stand in place, to set up.
THE BIBLE GIVES US SOME INSIGHT ABOUT WHEN AND WHAT WAS HAPPENING…
John 7:37 tells us on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles
(When they lived in tents for a week to celebrate God living with man, specifically the wilderness experience after coming out of Egypt)
John 8 tells us it was the next morning or the 8th day of the feast that the woman was caught in the act of adultery.
(Leviticus 20:10 says both the man and woman caught in the act of adultery should be executed, but religious people have a way of editing the Word to fit their beliefs rather than let the Word change what they believe, so we only see the woman facing execution.)
The day after the feast, called ‘Shemini Atzeret’ is a separate feast of transition.
Everyone shares and gets rid of everything…
They do not take any food home…
The people are transitioning from tents back to their homes, and this is the transition Jesus presents to this woman.
Her affair was found on the 8th day… The Day of New Beginnings…
WHERE JESUS WAS GIVING HER THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO BACK HOME.
John 8:4 - 6
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
SCRIPTURE WAS CLEAR - to tell us this is the day AFTER a week long celebration of the feast of tabernacles.
For the full week of Tabernacles/Living Waters a particular verse had been READ EVERY DAY– which is…
Jeremiah 17:13a
13a O Lord, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me (their names) shall be written in the earth
Shall be written - yik·kā·ṯê·ḇū - kathab - to write individual names or individual qualities of things.
Jeremiah 17:13b
13b, because they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters.”
JESUS writes names on the ground…BECAUSE THEY HAVE FORSAKEN LIVING WATERS.
First word - KATAGRAPHEN - kata means down…
where we get our word cartography - map writing…
Jesus is saying… ~ YOU HAVE GONE OFF COURSE ~ You are looking DOWN when you should look UP!
THEY ARE POINTING FINGERS WHEN THEY SHOULD BE ABOUT HEALING!
John 8:7 - 9
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
ENGRAPHEN - means to complete the writing…
Let’s go through the same pattern…
Healing Step #1 –
Caught in the midst of adultery…
Caught in the sin…
Caught in her dirt…
Caught in her mess…
She could not deny it…
SHE STOOD THERE - ALL HER FAULTS FOR ALL TO SEE.
She had to acknowledge where she was…
Her embarrassment
Her wrongdoing
Feeling attacked, used and betrayed
Healing Step #2 –
John 8:10
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
She needed to revisit her faith…
- that Jesus did not condemn her.
- that he forgave her.
No matter what had happened and how she was treated and how dirty she felt… he brought healing.
John 8:11
11 She said, No man, Lord.
Many times, to receive healing it is not just from things done to us…
But from the mistakes and wrongdoings that we have done.
WE MUST REVISIT HIS MERCY
Lamentations 3:22 - 23
22 The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
IF WE CHOOSE TO BERATE OURSELVES.
IF WE CHOOSE TO LOOK DOWN CONSTANTLY…
WE WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH WHAT GOD HAS PLANNED.
To revisit that our faith is knowing that his mercies are refreshed every morning…
Healing Step #3 –
John 8:11
11 …”No Man Lord”…
Why was she in this spot in the first place?
A bad marriage?
Did she feel like she was not worth anything?
Jesus was not just asking if THESE MEN did not condemn her…
HE WAS SAYING - DO YOU FEEL CONDEMNED BY ANYONE?
He was also revisiting her past.
There is NO LONGER ANY CONDEMNATION…
He was there now, and he was there then…
“NO MAN LORD” was her declaration of Jesus changing her trajectory!
Healing Step #4 –
…And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
She had to leave the relationship.
She had to leave what she was doing.
She needed to make that decision… She had to make adjustments…
Do not say that you repent of your sin and have made NO adjustments…
that’s not repentance…
WHAT IS THE CRUTCH THAT ALLOWED YOU TO TAKE THAT STEP INTO WRONG?
LEAVE IT…
Healing Step #5 – MAKE YOUR DECISION TO
ANYONE CAN SAY they are done with drugs in a church service.
ANYONE CAN SAY I am going to change my life in a counseling session.
EVERYONE GIVES THEIR LIFE TO JESUS at youth camp.
What happened when she left that street?
What were her emotional ties to the man? He made her feel loved, whole, needed, appreciated, wanted.
It did not matter: “Sin no more.” Not a suggestion, but a command.
NOT OUT OF ANGER… out of love.
She could not LIVE HEALED of the pain of her past - if she was not willing to walk out that healing.
John 8:12
12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Healing Step #6 – DISSEMINATE THE
If you follow me… you will see clearly so that you can heal like I just did.
The pharisees were in darkness…
She was in darkness…
I AM LIGHT!
Healing Step #7 –
Pharisees didn’t like this…
John 8:13
13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.
14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.
20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
Here Jesus teaches… not just against the pharisees, but so everyone hearing would understand…
JESUS SAYS -
- I HEAL HER BY NOT CONDEMING HER…
- I TESTIFY THIS IS HOW HEAVEN OPERATES…
And IF WE JUDGE, IF WE ATTACK, IF WE POINT THE FINGER, … we will die in our sins and will not go where Jesus going…
Radical LOVE and Radical FORGIVENESS is how we bring healing into the atmosphere….
