Guard What God Gave You — Part 2

Jeremiah 3:15 KJV

15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

James 1:21 KJV

21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness THE ENGRAFTED WORD, which is able to save your souls.

ENGRAFTED: inborn, implanted by nature, implanted by others instruction (someone who is anointed by God has to deposit the word into your life.

Matthew 13:1-3 KJV

1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

1. SOME SEEDS FELL BY THE WAYSIDE

Matthew 13:4 KJV

4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

DEVOURED: to consume by eating, to strip one of his goods, to squander, to waste substance. (1 Peter 5:8)

2. SOME FELL UPON STONY PLACES

Matthew 13:5-6 KJV

5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith THEY SPRUNG UP, because they had no deepness of earth:

6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and BECAUSE THEY HAD NO ROOT, THEY WITHERED AWAY.

SCORCHED: to burn with heat, to be tortured with intense heat…

THEY WITHERED AWAY: to make dry, to waste away

3. SOME FELL AMONG THORNS

Matthew 13:7 KJV

7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

CHOKE: to stifle, to suffocate with water, to drown. (Isa. 59:19)

4. OTHER FELL INTO GOOD GROUND

Matthew 13:8-9 KJV

8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

THE PARABLE EXPLAINED

Matthew 13:10-11,18 KJV

10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

STONY PLACES EXPLAINED

Matthew 13:20-21 KJV

20 But he that received the seed into STONY PLACES, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon (immediately) with joy receiveth it;

21 Yet hath HE NOT ROOT IN HIMSELF, but dureth for a while: FOR WHEN TRIBULATION OR PERSECUTION ARISETH BECAUSE OF THE WORD, BY AND BY HE IS OFFENDED.

TRIBULATION: pressure, anguish, affliction, distress, a pressing together, trouble…

PERSECUTION: hostility and ill-treatment, harassment…

OFFENDED: to scandalize, to entrap, to entice to sin, to put a stumbling block in the way, upon which another may trip and fall, to cause a person to begin to distrust and desert one whom he ought to trust and obey, to cause one to judge unfavourably or unjustly of another, to be displeased, indignant…

WHATEVER YOU DO, SEEK TO GET PLANTED

Psalm 92:12-15 KJV

12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13 Those that be PLANTED IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;

15 To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Colossians 3:16 KJV

16 LET THE WORD OF CHRIST DWELL IN YOU RICHLY in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Luke 22:31-32 KJV

31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Hebrews 10:32 KJV

32 “But call to remembrance the former days, in which, AFTER YE WERE ILLUMINATED, YE ENDURED A GREAT FIGHT OF AFFLICTIONS;”

ILLUMINATED: to cause something to exist and thus come to light and become clear to all, to instruct, to inform, to teach, to give understanding…

1 Peter 5:8-9 KJV

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because YOUR ADVERSARY THE DEVIL, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same AFFLICTIONS are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

AFFLICTIONS: a suffering, misfortune, calamity, hardship or pain, evil…

THINK IT NOT STRANGE THAT YOU FACE FIERY TRIALS

1 Peter 4:12-14 KJV

12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, HAPPY ARE YE; FOR THE SPIRIT OF GLORY AND OF GOD RESTETH UPON YOU: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

2 Corinthians 4:7-9 KJV

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

John 16:33 KJV

33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have TRIBULATION: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Job 1:22 KJV

22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
