I. Speak with Restraint
Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
(James 1:19)
“The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.” (Proverbs 15:26)
A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.
(Proverbs 15:1)
Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. (Proverbs 15: 4)
II. Speak with Purpose
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up.” (Ephesians 4:29)
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. (Ephesians 4:15)
III. Speak with Wisdom
“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord.” (Psalm 19:4)
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. (James 1:5)
