5 “See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.”
• We intentionally give God our leftovers if we give Him anything at all. Then, we sour against Him when He “under performs” for us. He does not give us our desired results. Micah 1
• Last week, the prophet Micah told us what God expects from us:
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
• We must cooperate with God to bring renewal to our lives, families and nation.
• There is the ‘famous’ verse for we who seek God for revival: 2 Chronicles 7:14
…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
• In Ephesians 5, God shows the way for His people to experience the infilling of The Holy Spirit:
18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
• Lay aside wrong ways of living and seeking satisfaction. Instead, learn God’s Word. Speak and communicate in our homes The Word Of God.
• Because of Who God is, be happy and joyful in your home.
• Practice the discipline of giving thanks. This is an act of faith and obedience to God.
• Serve others in your home. Value your wife, husband, parents and children.
• Turn your heart toward home.
WHAT DOES THIS LOOK LIKE IN THE HOME?
Let’s start with the HUSBANDS.
Ephesians 5:25-33
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church - 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This is a profound mystery - but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
• Love your wife with a SACRIFICIAL love.
• Love your wife with a SANCTIFYING love.
• Love your wife with a PURIFYING love.
• Love your wife with a GOSPEL love.
• Love your wife with a PURPOSEFUL love.
HUSBANDS, LIVE FOR YOUR WIFE!
