Part of May 2024 Notes

“Do I belive God is All I Need?”

  • His response to my concerns about sharing my struggle came with words of encouragement from 2 Corinthians 12:9.

Paul says,
9 But he said to me,
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

  • Because of this verse I am discovering, that coming to God in weakness
allows His power to work in me.

Galatians 6:2
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.

1 Peter 5:7
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

  • I must admit that in my weakness I struggled with this thought
“Did I really believe that God was enough for every part of my life?”

  • From David Guzik commentary:
“Millions of people have memorized this psalm, even those who have learned few other Scripture portions.
Ministers have used it to comfort people who are going through severe personal trials, suffering illness, or dying.
For some, the words of this psalm have been the last they have ever uttered in life.”

    (James Montgomery Boice)

Psalm 23.1
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

  • Sheep relied on the shepherd for all their needs.
  • Jesus said in the Book of John
“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.

Psalm 23:2-3
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Psalm 119:176
I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant,
for I have not forgotten your commands.

Mathew 11.28
Jesus says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.

Psalm 23.4
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on
your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Psalm 23.5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Romans says 8:37
No, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through him who loved us.
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
39 neither height nor
depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the
love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psalm 23.6
Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will
dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

  • The Lord goodness and love is all around us, we just need believe and rest
    in it.

Psalm 34:8
Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!

  • Do you believe God is all you need?
  • If everything you have is taken from you, would HE be enough?
