Special Notes:
The group guides for this series will feature extra items for groups that are brand new. They may still be valuable for long time groups, but you can also skip them if they don’t make sense for you group.
New Group Introductions:
Have everyone go around share their name, how they spend their days (work, school, etc.…), their family, and how long they’ve been at Northshore.
Ice breaker:
Have you ever had a travel fiasco like missing a flight or the activity you chose was a mistake?
Passage:
This week’s sermon was out of Luke 10:38-42
Discussion Questions:
1) Did anything stick out to you from the message, or did you have any questions?
2) Martha was doing good things, but ultimately distracted by those good things. Have you ever experienced a similar dynamic in following God? Did you ever go after a good thing and miss the most important thing?
3) Scotty said, that for many Christians their predominant attitude is to be worried and upset over many things. How does that create a Martha dynamic? What could we do to create a Mary dynamic?
4) Why do you think Jesus prioritizes intimacy with him over tasks getting finished and his honor? What does that teach us about having a relationship with God?
5) How is being Jesus’ disciple, even with all its costs, something of abundance or as Scotty said, “the best part of the meal?”
6) Scotty encouraged us to spend at least 1% of our day (10 minutes) with Jesus? What do you think God would do if you gave him that amount of time or more? What could that look like for you?
For Next Week:
Next week’s message is going to be about sharing your story. There will be an opportunity to share about who you are and your life more if you’d like. We’re letting you know now in case you want to prepare but no one will be forced to share.
Pray:
Go around and share prayer requests and close the time by praying for one another.
