The Church and The Kingdom
PART 18 - The Kingdom in Eternity Past
Dr. Frank Parrish/ www.world-map.com

1. THE KINGDOM OF GOD IN ETERNITY PAST

A. God is the

King.

B. The entire universe is God’s Kingdom, for He exercises sovereign rule over

things.

“The Lord has established His throne in heaven,
and His Kingdom rules over all” PSALM 103:19

“For the Kingdom is the Lord’s and He rules over the nations” PSALM 22:28

C. Lucifer in his

rebels against God’s righteous authority (as supreme King and Sovereign over all) and desires to king.

“… ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High’…” ISAIAH 14:12-15

PROPHETIC FORETYPE OF SATAN’S ORIGIN EZEKIEL 28:11-19

D. God did not

Satan. God created Lucifer. Lucifer made himself Satan through his pride and rebellion.

E. As Christians, we know that there is warfare, but it is not a war between 2 equals. Satan is

to God. Yet God has a for Satan.

2. KING OF CREATION

A. God is the King of

.
GENESIS 1:1; JOHN 1:3; EPHESIANS 3:9

1) The sovereignty of God is not always

, but it can be seen in the laws of nature.

2) Creation is

of order.

B. God makes man in His image.
GENESIS 1:26-27

1) The term “IMAGE” reveals a capacity for

. GENESIS 3:8

2) God did not create us for ministry, works or service. God created us for

.

3) You were made for relationship with God.

C. Role of man/ woman – Vice-Regent.

1) To

– “have dominion” (authority to rule). GENESIS 1:28

God created all of creation to serve man and to glorify God in its service to man.

2) To

– “tend and keep it” (stewardship). GENESIS 2:15

D. Moral imperatives. GENESIS 2:16-17

1) Man made a decision to

. GENESIS 3:6-7

2) This decision created a

– a break in God’s chain of command.

ORDER/ CHAIN OF COMMAND

GOD – Supreme Authority

ADAM & EVE – Vice-Regents
(rule underneath God’s authority)

EARTH

3) By disobeying God and giving in to Satan’s temptation, man

his authority to the one he obeyed. In other words, man obeyed Satan.

4) This

Satan to start ruling on earth.

“Then the devil, taking Him (Jesus) up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, ‘All this authority I will give You (Jesus), and the glory of these kingdoms; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours’” LUKE 4:5-7

JOHN 12:31 – “… the ruler of this world…”

2 CORINTHIANS 4:4 – “… the god of this world…”

1 JOHN 5:19 – “… the wicked one…”

ROMANS 5:12-21 – ADAM GAVE HIS AUTHORITY AWAY TO THE ONE WHOM HE OBEYED (SATAN).

Satan became the rebellious authority

the earth.

E. As man’s Creator, God has a choice –

1) to

the object of His love (man)?

OR

will He initiate a lengthy, supremely painful, but ultimately successful plan of

for His creation?

Thankfully God did not wipe out

. Instead He chose the harder path, a sacrificial path that ultimately can redeem man.

ALL THE RELIGIONS OF THE WORLD ARE ABOUT MAN ATTEMPTING TO REACH GOD, ONLY IN CHRISTIANITY DO WE SEE REACHING TO MAN

GOD’S POSITION AS KING OF ALL THE UNIVERSE IS NEVER IN QUESTION

And as King, God tells Adam and Eve in GENESIS 3:15, “I have a plan”

2) Fortunately, the “fall of man” does not stop or even delay our God or the advancement of His Kingdom! His plan from the beginning of creation has not altered, it has not changed and that is to

all people into relationship with Himself. But because of the “fall of man” a method must be opened and used to redeem His fallen creation, thus allowing man back into relationship with God as their rightful King. God’s plan: the to be born among all of humanity.

  1. FIRST STEPS IN MANKIND’S REDEMPTION: COVENANTS

A. Old Testament Covenants:

, , , , , ,

GENESIS 12 – THE BEGINNING OF GOD RAISING UP A PEOPLE (ISRAEL)

B. God ruled directly over His people, this is called a

.
This was to prepare a place for the coming Messiah. ISAIAH 9:6-7

C. Early in their history, Israel began to

God as their king, instead they wanted a human king.

THROUGHOUT THIS TIME, GOD HAS ONE SINGLE PLAN AND THAT IS TO PREPARE THE WHOLE WORLD FOR THE COMING OF GOD THE SON, THE MESSIAH, THE KING OF KING AND LORD OF LORDS
